Recreational League

Ages 4 to 14 can join the recreational league. Age bracket will depend on the child’s age on September 1st, but below is a rough cheat sheet showing where most kids play. Refer to USA Lacrosse's Official Age Chart  to see your child's specific age bracket—and feel free to reach out to us with questions.

Important 2025 Update from the SFYLL (our league): Girls divisions starting with the 2025 season will now be:

• 7U Girls: 1st grade and under (6U–7U)
• Lower School Girls: grades 2–5 (8U–11U)
• Middle School Girls: grades 6–8 (12U–14U)

*The U stands for “and Under”

Season: January 22 to late April 2025.

Games: Saturdays starting in mid-February. The game schedule will posted during season when we receive it from the SFYLL league.

Practice Schedule (tentative):

All teams practice two nights a week, except 6U Boys (one night per week). First practice is Weds, Jan 22. Please note that the final practice schedule will be determined by field space, player numbers, and coach schedules. Reach out to us if you need details!

Girls:

• 7U: Mon & Weds 6:15–7:15pm
• Lower & Middle School: Mon & Weds 6:15–7:30pm

Boys:

• 6U: Wednesdays 6:15–7:15pm
• 8U Mon & Weds: 6:15–7:15pm
• 10U–14U: Mon & Weds 6:15–7:30pm

Price includes the uniform plus a shooter shirt! (See FAQs for uniform info.)

Games

Home games are held at Seacrest. Away games are held in South Florida locations such as Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, and Parkland. Most of our teams play approximately half away and half home games.

Riptide prides itself on our values of hard work, dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect of self and others. In line with those values, we require that every player, parent, and coach adhere to a code of conduct we can all be proud of. This is a game, remember:

• These are kids
• All coaches are volunteers
• The officials are humans

All of the above will make mistakes. It's how we respond to them and to each other that makes a difference.

Remind your kids to:

• Help another player
• Always offer assistance
• Introduce yourself to a new player on your team
• Be respectful of the referees
• Say thank you to your coaches

A few DOs and DON'Ts:

• DO cheer for your team, not just your player.
• DON'T yell at the refs—it doesn't ever help. Let the coaches handle it.
• DON'T coach your kid from the sideline—it gets confusing. If you want to coach, let us know! We are always looking for volunteers!

What exactly is "recreational" lacrosse? Merriam Webster offers these synonyms for recreation: fun, entertainment, amusement, and enjoyment.

Play hard. Do your best. And have fun!
